The Emerging Professionals Programme (EPP)

The EPP is Aurecon’s global graduate development framework. It is a four year programme designed to develop our people into specialist consultants. We achieve this by offering a comprehensive mix of technical and non-technical personal development programmes to our emerging professionals.

The non-technical components of the EPP focus around four core elements of development, delivered throughout the life of the programme:

1. Self management — Assists the graduate’s transition from university to become a productive employee, able to rely on their own judgement and initiative to achieve project tasks. 
2. Think client — To help establish the fundamentals of professional client services, enabling the emerging professional to build working relationships, both internally and externally, for the benefit of professional project outcomes. 
3. Commercial acumen — Builds understanding of how Aurecon operates, and increase skills in financial matters, managing budgets and forward forecasting. 
4. Drive project results — Develop skills fundamental to becoming an effective project leader focused on the delivery of successful projects on time and on budget.

Accreditation

Ensuring our emerging professionals work towards gaining professional accreditation with a relevant industry body is something Aurecon strongly promotes and supports. Gaining accreditation means you will be at the industry best practice level which reflects the highest standard of professionalism. It also denotes your commitment to keep pace with advancing knowledge and quality in your field.

Coaching and mentoring

To support your professional development at Aurecon, your Line Manager supports you throughout your performance and development process. This involves goal setting, personal development planning and providing you with the development coaching to set you up for success.

Expertise

You will have the opportunity to learn from industry specialists and respected thought leaders, meet people who share your passions and be rewarded for doing what you enjoy.

On the job learning and experiences

On the job learning provides you with the opportunity to apply your current skills and develop new skills and knowledge in a ‘real time’ learning environment. This allows you to be challenged in a variety of aspects of your personal and professional development.

Classroom, virtual and online

Aurecon provides technical and non-technical learning through virtual knowledge sharing sessions, online learning and face-to-face classroom settings to meet your immediate development goals, functional role requirements and client and project needs.

Education assistance

Aurecon recognises the importance of accessing best practice external programmes and studies to complement the commercial, technical and non-technical learning experiences offered in-house and to meet client and project requirements.

Your learning experiences will continue throughout your career at Aurecon, allowing you to build on your strengths, take on new challenges and take your career in new directions. We support employees to undertake approved studies to meet both immediate and longer term professional development and business needs by providing financial support and study leave.

Limelight

Limelight is a forum which enables Aurecon’s emerging professionals to network and support one another in their careers. Limelight empowers emerging professionals to ask questions, make recommendations and challenge current practices to ensure continuous improvement.

Limelight was initially developed by Ankit Shah, a Sydney based engineer working in our Energy group. Ankit was inspired to set up a forum dedicated to young professionals after attending an Engineers Australia Leadership conference. Following this, he successfully presented a case to the business to have a young staff forum.

After rousing support for the initiative and conducting a naming competition amongst the cohort, Limelight was born.
