OneSteel Operations & Logistics Graduate Program

Don’t wait five or seven years to become an Ops Manager or Safety Adviser. Get there after two to three years with our Ops & Logistics grad program. Yes, we are being serious.

Your experience will be fast-tracked from day one through being out in business, including our warehouse environments, and getting involved in a diverse range of activities. Day-to-day you might find yourself looking at process improvement, logistics, the analysis of data and quality improvement. You’ll also be involved in frontline leadership, project management and building customer relationships.

Your degree in engineering, process engineering, operations management or logistics will qualify you for our program, but it’s your ambition, methodical approach and commitment which will see you flourish. .

Since we spun out of BHP in 2000, we've come a long way. Our opportunistic culture has driven our growth into more than steelmaking. We're now a materials and tier 2 mining company which operates in more than 15 countries. Our portfolio of related businesses spans 350 sites in Australia with over 60 facilities in New Zealand, Canada, Chile, Peru, Mexico, the US and Indonesia.

Join our world in a graduate role in either Whyalla (South Australia), Queensland, Melbourne (Victoria) or New South Wales and you’ll be able to contribute your fresh thinking and ideas.

If you’re joining our mining business, you’ll be gaining unique experience in a world that can’t be found in New Zealand.

As we grow, you grow.

What You Can Expect

Without fresh thinking and ideas, we wouldn't be the company we are now and as a graduate, you'll have lots of opportunity to make your mark on real work, in real situations with real outcomes. It'll fast track your experience and you'll have a real sense of achievement and impact.

You’ll be joining a supportive and down-to-earth culture which is well-practised at welcoming grads and given them the best development chances. So you get the most out of the opportunities on offer, you'll have the support of a team, a manager to mentor and guide you, and peer support from other grads on the program.

Our world is constantly evolving and offering new challenges and potential, so routine junkies need not apply. We're looking for adaptable types who are ready for adventure and eager to make the most of every extraordinary opportunity. You'll also need to be a good team player who can motivate yourself and others.

Our Grad Program

The 70/20/10 approach is a successful formula that's been proven to bring out the best in you. You'll learn-on-the-job, learn about our different business areas and receive structured learning to complement your skill set. It'll stretch you and your skills so you can reach your full potential, all whilst receiving support and guidance.

Over the course of two-to-three years, you'll rotate through projects, roles and depending on your discipline, you'll move around Australia. Each rotation will give you plenty of time to get used to your Australian location and stuck into your role, so you get everything you can from the experience.

Making the move to Australia offers exciting new adventures and unique experiences, but it’s also a big change. We've lots of practise in helping our grads move to begin their program or for a rotation within the program. You'll receive not only financial relocation assistance to make it easy for you, but also the help of our team so it won't be something you need to worry about.
