Metallurgy

When we say it’s real responsibility with real outcomes, they’re not empty words. How about being able to influence and run parts of a project that results in more than $1 million of savings? The ability to contribute to projects like this is exactly what you can expect as a metallurgy graduate.

You’ll be using your theoretical knowledge of extracting metals from ore to improve our processes, yield and quality. Coupled with your dedication to safety and flexible and proactive nature, you can expect extraordinary opportunities.

During your three-year graduate program, you’ll be rotated every 12-18 months to work in different roles, either on the same project or across multiple nationwide projects, including Whyalla, Sydney and Newcastle.

At the end of your grad program, you can take your talents and commitment to the next level in a supervisory or senior role.

Geology

If your idea of a stimulating geology grad role is doing the same thing day in, day out, we’re not the company for you. Iron ore production geology is varied and complex and offers stimulating challenges which will utilise your degree to its fullest.

Our production geology grads are out in the field, not stuck in a core shed. Not held back by a graduate job title, you can expect to not only liaise with contractors and operators, but offer valuable insights which will make a real difference to our mining operations.

As part of a growing team of supportive management and friendly peers, you’ll be working an enviable 8 on, 6 off roster. As you’ll be living in the residential setting of Whyalla, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy and active on those days off.

During your two-to-three year program, you'll be rotated every 12-18 months to work in different roles, either on the same project or across multiple projects at our Whyalla mine site.

At the end of the program, you'll step into a role that matches your talents in one of our existing or soon to be opened sites.

Material Science

If you've completed a degree in Material Science we have stimulating work opportunities for graduates in our steel manufacturing business. You'll work independently and as a team to play an essential role in our manufacturing processes. You'll learn how your degree applies to our industry from experienced colleagues.

During your three year program you'll experience different tasks and challenges. As your degree is so specialised, we'll provide more information about your role once you apply. But rest assured scientists play a critical role in our business success, and as such you'll be a key player in our team.
