There are two ways to join Ernst & Young
Our Intern Programme
Our summer intern programme gives you a real taste of working life for 12 weeks in your summer holiday. At the end of the programme, we will give you feedback, and you may receive an offer of a full time graduate position with us once you've finished your studies.
Our Graduate Programme
If you've recently finished university or are soon to finish, you could apply to join our graduate programme and work with us full time. You'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of clients and receive generous support from the firm and your colleagues to gain post-graduate qualifications.
We take graduates and interns in our Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch offices.

Our Career Compass Programme
This programme provides an opportunity for students in their first year to develop their skills and learn more about Ernst & Young by spending 1 to 3 days in the office. Students apply in March 2012, for work experience in June/July 2012.

Todd Anderson
Todd Anderson is a Graduate in Assurance in our Christchurch office. He joined the firm as an Intern in 2009/2010.

While at University I studied German and Spanish, which has led me to have an interest in foreign business. Ernst and Young in recognising this has allowed me to be part of an engagement where the client is based in Uruguay; allowing me develop this interest and gain important skills and knowledge within the industry all the while using some of my Spanish skills.
The work life balance that Ernst and Young provide is fantastic. It has allowed me to train for my sports and take to time to go to competitions all the while helping me develop a clear plan to achieving my career goals.

David Liu
David Liu works in Assurance in Auckland. He joined the firm as a Graduate in 2008.

Kate Eckhoff
Wellington-based Kate Eckhoff is a Senior Consultant in Human Capital in Tax. She joined the firm in 2003, and spent three years in Brussels between 2005 and 2008.
The Human Capital culture is to be innovative in our thinking; dynamic in our action; passionate in our delivery; global in our approach and proud of diversity. Consequently my role requires continual learning and development so I can deal with new situations as well as focussing on delivering great service for our clients.
I felt incredibly proud after receiving my first promotion. Knowing that your hard work and dedication to the job has been recognised by some of the most senior members of the firm is a great feeling and it inspires you to do even better.
Ernst & Young offers great opportunities globally. When my fiancé was transferred to Brussels four years ago, I travelled with him and within a few days of arriving I had secured a job at Ernst & Young Brussels as a U.S. tax consultant. Since moving back to New Zealand in 2008 I have maintained many of the contacts I made in Brussels and continue to work with them on clients they have based in Australasia.
For two years I mentored a high school student who wanted to study law. It was incredibly rewarding watching her study skills and desire to learn develop after even just a few sessions together.

We work hard at Ernst & Young to create a friendly environment and have fun. Our offices have an active social club, regular get-togethers a variety of sports teams to join. There's something for everyone, ranging from movie nights, food fests, wine-tastings, a harbour cruise, the annual ball or trivia night (just for starters).
Our competitive edge....
The 2009 New Zealand Business Games was a huge hit with over 50 of our Wellington employeestaking part in a range of activities from go-karting, indoor netball, soccer, volleyball, touch rugby, ten pin bowling and corporate challenge events. Ernst & Young managed to scoop the top accounting award for the second year running.


In Auckland, the Ernst & Young Commerce Cougars beat stiff competition to take home the Sir Wilson Whineray trophy in the inaugural University of Auckland interfaculty rugby competition. Hot on the heels of that success, EY also won the inaugural Auckland Big 4 rugby tournament!
Our Christchurch office staff - never ones to shirk a challenge - put their all into the Cure Kids Great Adventure Race in the South Island each year. EY Christchurch also gets involved in the winter festival event programme, including venturing onto the ice-rink in the Square for some fun.


Community
We are proud of our interactions with senior secondary school students through our nationwide volunteer engagement programme. Our people clock up around 1,700 hours annually mentoring talented students. The programme is a firm favourite with our graduates for the sense of satisfaction, new friends and new skills gained.
