Challenge

Michael – Analyst Programmer

Gentrack Graduate Jobs Michael ClarkFor me, Gentrack was the perfect size, big enough that I would be exposed to a wide range of technical software skills and make lots of new friends, but also not so big that I would be lost in a sea of employees.

When you first start it can be a little daunting as the Gentrack software covers an extremely wide range of topics and requires extensive knowledge to comprehend the system.

I now work as a member of Gentrack’s operations team, it is my responsibility to talk with our clients and work through issues they may have. This involves identifying their needs and then developing, testing and implementing a solution.

There is a superb sense of friendship and support among colleagues and the office is a nice place to be because of the atmosphere created by the team; new members are always welcomed warmly.

Grow

Andrew – Analyst Programmer

Gentrack Graduate Jobs Andrew KimI chose Gentrack because I had developed a passion for Business IT solutions and wanted to develop large scale products for businesses.

Since I started at Gentrack I have had the opportunity to move across two different parts of the business which has given me the chance to work with, and learn from people from different backgrounds and professions. I am currently taking up an amazing opportunity I was offered, to go on a 6 month secondment to work out of our office in Melbourne, Australia. Not only do I get to live in a new country for 6 months, but my switch to the Operations team means I get to consult with clients on a daily basis.

When I arrived in Australia I had the opportunity to work with one of the largest companies in Australia’s Northern Territory, PowerWater; a utility company which provides both power and water to customers across the Northern Territory. Most recently I have been working with Onstream, a major Tasmanian water utility, where I was given the responsibility of being Site Coordinator. This has meant I am now responsible for ensuring that all solutions are delivered to the client on time.

At Gentrack my learning has never stopped, I'm always learning each day. The company is always ready to develop its employees as professionals and give them opportunities to better themselves.

Lead

Sujith - Service Delivery Team Leader

Gentrack Graduate Jobs Sujith RamachandraI started at Gentrack as an Analyst Programmer in the development team, within half a year I was given the opportunity to move into the Operations team and I got to experience customer interaction for the first time. After two years I was promoted to Team Leader which meant I was involved in managing resources and work allocation. I have since been promoted again into my current role, Service Delivery Team Leader. As Service Delivery Team Leader, I lead the Operations Business As Usual (BAU) team where my main focus is service delivery. I have to make sure that my team is aware of how to provide good customer service and deliver quality solutions whilst building solid relationships with our customers. I am also involved in Project Management, where I have to resource projects and then manage them to meet the customer’s timeframes.

I couldn’t have asked for much more in my five years at Gentrack. In addition to working with some of NZ and Australia’s largest utility companies including Genesis, Contact and Meridian Energy, I have been lucky enough to experience great career development, travel around New Zealand and work in a company where great people create an atmosphere that makes you want to come to work in the morning.

GOSH (Gentrack’s Social Committee)

Genrtack Graduate Jobs Christmas PartyGentrack works with an external events company to devise new and exciting activities to keep us entertained. Thanks to GOSH you have the chance to become an X-box champion, pool shark, or quiz master. You can go paint balling in the forest or take in a cheap movie on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. The Gentrack Christmas party and the mid-winter Christmas party are the highlights of the calendar year; this year’s mid-winter party was a murder mystery evening while last year’s Christmas party was held at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.

GEAR (Gentrack’s Health and Wellness plan)

Genrtack Graduate Jobs Round the BaysWe place a large emphasis on a healthy lifestyle, so you can get into gear with Gentrack’s health and wellness programme. You can start off eating from our free fruit bowl, then become a part of our team in next year’s ‘Round the Bays’, push yourself at our fitness boot camps and join our crew at the O’Hagan’s Pub 5km challenge every week. If this all sounds a bit intense, we also enter a number of teams into social indoor netball and soccer competitions. All of this wellness culminates with the biggest event of the year, our annual ‘Step into Gear’ pedometer challenge.

Travel

Working at Gentrack means you will see yourself jet setting around New Zealand and overseas to spend time onsite with our clients. We have clients in Australia, Asia, North America and the UK and our staff regularly visit them onsite to offer support services and install upgrades.

Gentrack in the Community

Genrtack Graduate Jobs High RopesWe believe it’s important to contribute to the community so we started a ‘Gentrack in the Community’ programme; this provides our staff the perfect opportunity to give back. Recently, we have been involved in the Special Children’s Christmas Party in association with Starship Hospital. We have also planted trees on Arbour day, fundraised for the Pike River Mine and Christchurch Earthquake funds, and supported the Westpac Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust. Very soon we will be going pink for breast cancer awareness and giving our razors a break for Movember and the fight against Prostate Cancer.

Gentrack Recognition

We like to celebrate hard work and success, so we take any opportunity to reward our staff and we have plenty of ways of doing this. Each Thursday we finish early and break into teams for a companywide quiz we call the Thursday Thinker. Friday provides a great opportunity to get to know everybody and enjoy a companywide morning tea and then some well-earned after work drinks. To recognise individuals’ performances we award a weekly trophy for outstanding contributions, while once a month the CEO will award a special prize for an extraordinary performance. At the end of each year we have our annual awards night, where our CEO hands out MVP awards to those who have made an outstanding contribution and consistently displayed our core values: Agility, Ability and Attitude.
