In New Zealand, we offer the majority of our products under the State and NZI brands and underwrite general insurance business for some of the country’s leading financial institutions.

We underwrite around $7.8 billion of insurance premiums each year and the IAG Group employs around 13,500 people.

Actuarial and Reporting Team

What is the focus of the Actuarial and Reporting teams at IAG?

IAG ImagesThe Actuarial team have a key role in the business, in order to have clarity to make decisions, facts are required - this team undertakes the reporting and budgeting analysis with statistical techniques and tools to provide the business with that key decision making information. What do I need to be studying to be considered for a role in this team?

We are considering students who are currently in their final year of study with a discipline in either mathematics or statistics, level 2 statistics papers are an advantage.

Commercial and Personal Products Pricing Teams

What is the focus of these teams at IAG? 

In short: We apply statistical and analytical techniques to solve real-world business problems.

We operate two Pricing Teams here at IAG. The Commercial Lines Pricing team looks after the commercial products sold to businesses in New Zealand, while the Personal Lines Pricing team covers the insurance products sold to individuals and families within our communities.

Commercial and personal insurance products all have their own complexities and these teams focus on providing analytical and statistical support to aid in making and implementing business decisions to help the business meet its objectives.

What is the focus of these teams at IAG?

Financial Services is a diverse business unit encompassing core financial functions, along with legal, corporate services, strategy and actuarial and reporting functions.

Our aim is to support the company’s goals of market share and profitability in the following ways:

  • Supporting the business strategy through providing the vision, leadership and purpose for profitable growth through insightful analysis
  • Strengthening our decision support capabilities by automating and simplifying processes within Financial Services and across the business
  • Providing appropriate and best value goods and services
  • Delivering good governance & control through understanding and managing the financial, business and legal risks of the business

We are currently seeking graduates for both our accounting services and actuarial teams.
