IAG New Zealand is New Zealand's largest general insurer. We are part of Insurance Australia Group (IAG), which is headquartered in Sydney and is Australasia's largest general insurance group.
In New Zealand, we offer the majority of our products under the State and NZI brands and underwrite general insurance business for some of the country’s leading financial institutions.
We underwrite around $7.8 billion of insurance premiums each year and the IAG Group employs around 13,500 people.

Technology Services
What is the focus of these teams at IAG?
We have over 100 IT professionals working together to achieve our goal – to provide Reliable, Agile, Cost Effective IT solutions across all our businesses.
The technology services team is located in both Auckland and Wellington and is made up of the following divisions - infrastructure and operations, application support and development, business systems, project management office and security.
We support the business in the following ways:
- Offering a central contact point for all queries about PC’s and telephones through the TS helpdesk. The Helpdesk also handles all interactions with the companies that support our technology and telephone systems.
- Running and enhancing our existing business applications and developing completely new ones to support business requirements.
- We focus on continuous improvement, supporting and enabling IAG to identify and implement opportunities to sustain competitive advantage.
- Supporting organisational success through enabling successful projects and providing best practice project methodology and governance.
- We use SCRUM which is an agile framework for completing complex projects. As a result we have seen an improvement in productivity, collaboration and the overall quality to the work we deliver to the business
- Improve the speed, cost and quality of TS deliveries by guiding the selection, design and development of high quality, reusable services and technology building blocks.
We do all this with our own team members, and in partnership with IAG Australia. We also work closely with a number of outsource service providers.

What do I need to be studying to be considered for a role in this team?
We are considering students who are currently in their final year of study with a discipline in computer science.
