Audit
Do you love a fast-paced environment? All companies need audit services and that means our specialists are never short of exciting projects. So what exactly does our Audit team do? Essentially we give our view on whether a client’s accounts are a ‘true and fair’ reflection.
To get this right, the team needs to grasp a thorough understanding of a client’s business. While the year-end audit is when most of the financials are completed, the Audit team is always building relationships with clients and offering sound business advice.
Over time, you will also provide a range of other services to clients, such as:
- due diligence reviews
- initial public offerings
- financial valuations
- expert opinions on technical matters.
Although you may choose a line of business at the start of your career, you will work with a wide range of companies.
You'll love Audit if:
- you're skilled at interpreting figures
- you enjoy learning about different clients and industries
- you're good at problem solving.

John Bedford
Moving from the student lifestyle of Dunedin to the corporate world was a daunting prospect for John Bedford, but his first year at KPMG has felt like an extension of the university experience.
"The graduate programme at KPMG offers an environment where every day you learn something new and provides you with a challenge, and working with other grads that are in the same position as you makes the transition a lot of fun".
The graduate induction camp was an amazing experience to start our time with KPMG, and it really instils the KPMG values straight away by focusing on working effectively in teams and putting you outside of your comfort zone. This camp made everyone feel like part of the team from the outset, and showed us that KPMG are passionate about developing the most important resource; their people."

Anna Cahill & Ngatai Schuster
After joining KPMG in March 2008, Anna Cahill has recently completed PCE2 and is now just a month away from becoming CA. "I have enjoyed the ability to specialise in areas of interest such as farm accounting and have become a Xero expert and help clients around the North Island."
"I chose KPMG for the national and international opportunities. I am really enjoying the great team environment with lots of events and social occasions like playing social indoor netball with the KPMG team."
Ngatai Schuster also enjoys the open and supportive environment KPMG offers and is really happy with her choice of firm and career.
"I was made to feel part of the team straight away and my training was made much easier by everyone's willingness to help whenever I needed it. One of the best things about KPMG is having access to and learning from some highly experienced people with expertise across all areas of accounting."
"It's been fun getting to know all the different people I work with and there are plenty of good social events throughout the year to get involved in. And the great thing about Business Advisory is I work with a huge range of clients from small ‘mum and dad' type businesses to large groups across many different industries."
