Vector Employee"I found Vector's graduate programme to be a great way to fast-track my professional development. I was surrounded by plenty of experienced and intelligent people who were very willing to share their knowledge and help me to improve my skill set. Another fantastic aspect of the programme is that I was able to experience different areas of the business as time went by, and through this I got a really good understanding of how a large company functions. I was given a comfortable level of responsibility working on and managing a range of projects from compiling project cost estimates and conducting tender evaluations, to managing my own projects (such as equipment installations and upgrades for customers throughout Auckland). In addition, due to the large number of employees at Vector, I met a lot of people with whom I shared a range of interests, which made for a great work environment. All in all I found Vector to have a good balance of work, life and play, and I think it is a fantastic all-round company
to begin one's "professional career" stage of life."

Vector Employee"My current role focuses on providing electrical engineering support to the asset investment team. Throughout my graduate programme I worked as a network planner, providing long term solutions to increasing electrical load in different regions. I also worked as a Customer Contracts Manager executing customer projects including asset relocation and providing customers with a point of supply.

I also worked in the Vector Control Room assisting with the switching schedules and supporting an operator communicating with field staff during an outage. Vector is a great place to start your career if you are willing to challenge yourself and take responsibility and they provide you with the experience you need for any future in the electrical field. Working at Vector you are always encouraged to take the next step and work towards your goals."

Vector Employee"I joined Vector in late 2008 as a summer intern student and was placed in the Distribution Network Development Team. Two projects were given to me during this 12 weeks internship programme. One was to forecast the long-term electricity demand in the northern area of the Auckland region and the other was to prepare a solution study for an installation of overhead recloser on the Newmarket 16 11kV feeder. The opportunity of working alongside professional engineers gave me insights into Vector's values and ethics, as well as the important role the company plays in the New Zealand power industry. It was also a good chance to improve my time management skills, writing and presentation skills through work and internal workshops. After completing my degree at the end of 2009, I was accepted into Vector's 3 years Graduate Development Programme in 2010. As a graduate, I have been given the opportunity of experiencing different roles during the programme. Currently, I am working in the Pricing and Decision Support team and have been involved with the pricing for electricity and gas investment."

Vector Employee"Working for Vector I have learnt to perform a wide variety of jobs, from raising budgets for projects to going out in the field and checking equipment. The working atmosphere is fantastic. Particularly as a graduate when you have a lot of questions and not many answers. The very approachable people throughout the company make it easier for you to gain knowledge fast. There are also wide variety of sporting and social activities you could get involved with."
